Back 'Em Up!!

baby in carseat

Parents of young children tune in! If your child is 2 years old or younger he/she should be riding rear facing in the back seat! What?!? Seriously?!? The American Academy of Pediatrics published guidelines in 2011 based on research aimed at decreasing the risk of serious injury to children involved in car accidents. Motor vehicle accidents remain a leading cause of death among children younger than 4 years…in part because child passengers remain unrestrained or improperly restrained. It was found that using a rear-facing car seat until a child is age two (or outgrows the weight/height limits of the car seat) reduces the risk of serious injury. For perspective: in Sweden it is culturally accepted that children under the age of 4 are in rear-facing car seats and child traffic fatalities are among the lowest in the world. Let's change our culture and protect our youngest citizens…rear facing until 2 years!!
